Towson Real Estate Information

Towson can be found in the state of Maryland and is designated as an unincorporated community and county seat to the county of Baltimore. According to the census taken in 2000, Towson has a population of over 50,000 residents, making it the second largest unincorporated county seat in the United States, behind Ellicott City also in Maryland. Towson is located just north of Baltimore City and inside the Baltimore Beltway. It is bordered on the east by I-83 and York Road, separating it from Parkville. Towson’s other boundaries include Pikesville on the west and Lutherville-Timonium and Hampton up north of the town.

Towson is comprised of several different major neighborhoods. These include Anneslie, East Towson, Greenbriar, Hampton, Hunt Crest Estates, Idlewylde, Rodgers Forge, Southland Hills, Stoneleigh, West Towson, and Wiltondale. Some people also considered the western community of Ruxton to be a part of Towson as well.

Towson’s location just north of Baltimore City and on the edge of the Piedmont Plateau causes it to fall in between the humid subtropical and humid continental climate zones. This gives the Towson a mid-range array of weather. Summers can be both hot and humid with July and August being the hottest months of the year. Temperatures can usually get to daily highs in the 90’s during these months. The spring and fall seasons are characterized by 60 and 70-degree weather with even amounts of rainfall. Winter can bring the occasional freezing rain and snowstorms, but is relatively moderate with high temperatures in the 40s and low temperatures in the 20s on average. Towson is home to beautiful year-round real estate.
